The Mammoth Lakes Police Department Patrol Division consists of 15 sworn officers providing 24 hours of service to the community and its visitors. Uniformed officers who are assigned to this division respond to many calls for service throughout the year. In 2009, the Patrol Division responded to more than 8,500 incidents and calls for service. Although, many of these calls did not involve criminal activity, the service we provide at times in a non-enforcement role reflects our commitment and philosophy of problem solving and working together with our community in protecting the quality of life within the Town of Mammoth Lakes.

The daily responsibilities of Officers assigned to the Patrol Division include, but are not limited to, apprehension of criminal offenders, traffic enforcement and the investigation of traffic collisions, patrolling and/or maintaining visible uniform presence in order to deter criminal activity. Additionally, patrol officers participate in many community events throughout the year by providing traffic and crowd control, event security, and interacting with our visitors to create or enhance a visitor friendly atmosphere that Mammoth Lakes is known for.

Patrol Officers are given on-going specialized training in areas of wildlife management, crime scene and evidence collection, drug and alcohol recognition, sexual assault investigations, domestic violence investigations, and traffic collision investigations.

The Patrol Division incorporates many programs that reflect highly on the professionalism and dedication of our officers; Traffic Unit, School Resource Officer, Mounted Patrol, Honor Guard Detail and Crime Prevention are just a few of the collateral duties that involve patrol officers.
