The Town of Mammoth Lakes Town Council formally recognized the Mammoth Lakes Police Officers Association (MLPOA) as an employee association on February 4th, 1987. The Town of Mammoth Lakes formally acknowledged the MLPOA as a recognized employee organization representing its members for the purpose of meeting and conferring in good faith. 

The MLPOA is a self-governing organization consisting of all full-time sworn law enforcement personnell of the ranks of Officer and Sergeant.
